A brief history of our founder Thomas Wood and Founding Beliefs.

  I was raised all over the United States and globally since my father was in the US Army from the time of my birth. I didn’t have a home town and we moved frequently. My family is of Scottish descent on both sides and settled in North Carolina so I had a strong Southern Baptist and strict Military upbringing. I had several jobs before I became an entrepreneur. I went into the United States Marine Corps straight out of Highschool. I owned two successful businesses the first being a mobile mechanic and roadside assistance service and the second being a gun company where I possessed a federal firearms license and later designed prototyped developed and sold a system for the AR15/M16 weapons platform that resulted in a registered United States Patent and did find itself used in the Middle East combat operations with Group Seven Special Forces out of Fort Bragg NC. I worked at three different chemical plants, the most influential one being owned by Charles Koch. His Market based management and mentorship really influenced me and opened my mind to better ways of applying myself in my work and my personal life. I trained and became an over the road tractor trailer driver after the third layoff from a chemical company due to a shut down of operations at each site. I noticed every time I did a job search CDL A jobs were always there and I became a CDL A driver because of job security and income opportunity. After one year of driving I became an owner operator.

Once I had driven over the road for six years I really had experienced a huge amount of disrespect in the trucking industry from seemingly all directions . I found myself very angry, upset, and disgruntled. I began to really feel isolated and unappreciated and like I was not being treated like a skilled person of value. This plagued me for the six years I drove OTR and I finally decided I was getting out of the truck and into the place where I could be most effective to not ask for change but to become the change I was looking for and demanding.  

June 21, 2019 I started The Optimized Logistics LLC and became an agent of Greatwide Truckload management. I went through several changes of people involved in the business until I was able to create what I later named The Dream Team. Through our eight guiding principles and a driver first culture and mentality we keep our Drivers and owner operators profitable and most of all happy. Several people that are driver managers and part of The Dream Team were also drivers first. Our team is focused on revenue not miles and we treat our Drivers with the respect they truly deserve. We have dedicated dispatchers and driver managers that are available twenty four seven and have a direct connection with our Drivers and Owner Operators. We never turn our phones off and we don’t have different night and weekend people. come join our family and have a forever home where you will be respected.
